NEWS AND EVENTS

NERD FEST was held at the Holiday Inn Swedesboro, NJ on Sunday, February 26th. The annual show is hosted by Dan and Mary Campbell, and it is one of the many shows they organize every year. Nerd Fest had a decent crowd with a variety of comic book vendors, crafters and, of course, cosplayers!

While there were many cosplayers participating in the event, about two dozen entered in the contest. The majority of them were in the youth category, so cosplay is alive and well with the younger crowd. The group was especially heavy in the Anime category, but there were also a few superheroes in attendance.

I was especially impressed with one of the Stormtroopers who had a voice changer built into their helmet so they sounded like they were right out of the movie. The sound system also played random sound clips with status reports and chatter. Really great way to level up that costume!

There was also a small legion of Furries at the show and they were having a grand time posing for the cameras. The cosplay community was well represented in all categories and a splendid time was had at the show.
